The Chronicles of Carinae

News!

  • [06 June 2008] - So we finally took up Exalted again. And in the spirit of continuity I have put up the old site with all the info on the previous chronicles. Though this time we will be starting a brand new chronicle set just before the First Age - at the beginning of the Primordial War! Interestingly enough, we have chosen to stick with first edition Exalted rules but to take a few of the nicer things from second edition and integrate them - who can say no to excellencies and the new anima abilities... look for their story in the section entitled "In the beginning..."

What can I find here?

Welcome to the Chronicles of Carinae! We've been playing an Exalted chronicle since Mar 2002. Have a look around, theres tons of stuff to explore. If you are uncertain what Exalted is, its a roleplaying game published by White-Wolf set in the Second Age of Man - A time of mythology and high fantasy and martial arts with a distinctive mix of eastern and western themes.
The Story So Far
This is an episode by episode (episode is one session) account of the entire original chronicle from the day we started, as well as later chronicles which spun off. Most of it, particularly the older ones, are quite short and difficult to follow, unfortunately, due to them covering only major events. This section is mainly for nostalgia and to refresh our memories of past events, but with patience, an enthralling tale emerges. Scattered among the episodes are pieces of fiction which bring the story to life. The episodes appear in chronological order, starting from approximately the end of Realm Year 768.
Circle From Nautilus
What happened to the site that used to be here? What happened to Dante and Delenor, Allectus and Validor? Well this is where you will now find everything about the characters who started it all. I found that as characters retired and players changed within the group, that the relevancy of the site being called The Circle From Nautilus waned and a changing of the guard occurred. All the information on Nautilus, the home town of the original characters, can be found here now.
Allies
In here you will find a little bit about all the NPC allies that the PCs have made in their journeys. So if you see a name being mentioned in the Story So Far and want to know more about how they fit into everything, look here.
Fiction Index
This is where you will now find all the fiction that was previously hidden among all the episodes. I found that most people didn't seem to have the stamina to read through our episodes, so they never got to appreciate some of the great fiction that our group has produced.
Exalts of Carinae
Who is this? Well these are all the new characters created either by old players or new players. They were seamlessly woven into the story when they were introduced and these days the story revolves around them, so learn their names well. What or where is Carinae? This is also where you find out about the haven of the Solars in the Age of Sorrows.
Villains
This new section has been added to compliment the Allies section that has actually always been there. Now you can get up close and personal with those that have been trying to eliminate the Solar threat, since the beginning.
Ivory Forest
When Exalted Second Edition came out, we put aside our main chronicle and started new characters in An-Teng. We did this mainly out of fear of what the second edition would do to our original story and whether it would even be backwards compatible. Now after playing second edition for many months, we are not sorry we decided to do it this way. And its unlikely that we will be converting our first edition chronicle into a second edition chronicle. Nevertheless, this is where you can keep track of our new cast and their adventures down in the south west of Creation.
